KIELBASA, KAPUSTA (SAUERKRAUT) & POTATOES

kielbasa kapusta sauerkraut potatoesKielbasa, kapusta (sauerkraut) & potatoes is one of my mother’s favorite comfort foods. It combines three traditional Polish favorites into one satisfying meal. My mom brought this dish to a potluck lunch at work when she was in her fifties. Her thirty-something co-worker loved it so much that he proposed marriage to her! ๐Ÿ™‚

This recipe is great served with your favorite pickles, mustard and bread. It’s easy to make and sure to please your whole family (or coworkers)!

KIELBASA, KAPUSTA (SAUERKRAUT) & POTATOES

Servings 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 ring kielbasa
  • 1 lb your favorite sauerkraut
  • 4 oz salt pork
  • 2 large potatoes sliced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Boil kielbasa for 10 minutes, then slice.

  2. Drain and rinse sauerkraut.

  3. Boil sauerkraut for 10 minutes, then drain and rinse again.

  4. Boil sliced potatoes for 10 minutes.

  5. Render salt pork until golden brown.

  6. Add sauerkraut to salt pork.

  7. Add salt and pepper.

  8. Add sliced potatoes.

  9. Add sliced kielbasa.

  10. Cook until thoroughly heated.

  11. Serve with your favorite pickles, mustard and bread.
